The Pakistani community jointly launched its relief efforts. The Consulate General of Pakistan in Houston joined Pakistani organizations such as Pakistan Association of Greater Houston (PAGH), Alliance for Disaster Relief & others.
\nIn a simple ceremony, observing social distancing, the Consul General of Pakistan in Houston Mr. Abrar Hashmi inaugurated \u201cPakistan Center Food Pantry\u201d. Present on occasion were Haroon Sheikh President PAGH, Muhammad Saeed Sheikh, Coordinator of the Alliance & Mian Nazeer in charge of the Distribution Center. The pantry is aimed at providing food to the needy across Houston\u2019s diverse spectrum. The volunteers at the Pakistan Centre will provide prepackaged food at curb side between 12-6 PM daily.
\nThe \u201cAlliance for Disaster Relief\u201d formed in 2011 and is an umbrella of several Pakistani Community Organizations in Houston. This includes Pakistan Association of Greater Houston, Houston Karachi Sister City Association, House of Charity, Ibne Sina Foundation, Islamic Society of Greater Houston, Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA- Relief), APPNA Foundation, Friends of Karachi, Pakistan Chamber of Commerce (PCC-USA), and many others.
\nThe Alliance, as it did in the past, is determined to extend other services to Houstonians during COVID-19. Syed Javaid Anwar funded the first tranche.\u201d[\/vc_column_text]
