Flood Relief Efforts for Sindh, Pakistan

2011: When the Province of Sindh in Pakistan suffered from severe flooding, the Houston Pakistani American community volunteers initiated & formed a collaborative of organizations called “The Alliance of Pakistan Flood Relief Efforts”. This coalition included more than 42 community organizations and media outlets. The Alliance successfully shipped a 40 feet container worth more than $100,000 of relief supplies for the flood stricken people of Sindh province of Pakistan. Alliance also arranged a cash donation fundraising effort, which collected $80,000 for the relief supplies to be purchased in Pakistan, and this was given to five non-profit organizations. Also with the guidance from one of the top four-star 501 (c) (3) humanitarian NGOs of USA; Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD), Alliance container of food, blankets, hygiene kits, etc. were distributed in Mirpurkhas to the 1,250 internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Pakistan’s Sindh Province.
