October 7, 2020: Administrator of Karachi Mr. Iftikhar Ali Shallwani has said that we have not yet won the battle against Corona, but we are on the verge of winning it. That is why continuing safety measures and following the SOPs are needed. Corona Virus has caused havoc all across the globe. We say Thanks to God for the better situation being faced in Pakistan.
Mr. Shallwani was speaking at the free medical clinic and food packages distribution in Qayumabad, Karachi for the recent floods victims. This was organized by Civil Service Organization (CSO) “Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD)” through generous sponsorship from “The Houston Karachi Sister City Association (HKSCA)” & “The Alliance for Disaster Relief (AFDR)”.
In all, HHRD has served more than 150,000 persons through medical, clean water, food, and hygiene items assistance after the Super Rains & Floods of August-September, 2020, including 60 free medical clinics in Karachi.
Through the support of Patron-in-Chief of HKSCA & AFDR Mr. Syed Javaid Anwar of Midland, Texas, USA, more than 8,000 persons have been served in Karachi, Umerkot, and Dadu, Sindh.
Mr. Shallwani appreciated the efforts of Houston Karachi Sister City Association (HKSCA), Alliance for Disaster Relief (AFDR) & Helping Hand for Relief & Development (HHRD), who through the generous Giving from Overseas Pakistanis in the US; are giving this healthcare assistance, free medicines, and food to people in need, who have been double it by COVID-19 and the Super Floods. He acknowledged the valuable & high standard of help given by the volunteer doctors, and the staff & volunteers of these organizations in providing these services in the most dignified manner to the public.
“This is something worth replicating by these and all other organizations, as the local government is also providing the services”, added Mr. Shallwani.
